Acceptance of terms
These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Northbaseworks for your use of Scavenger for Android. You must be capable of forming a binding contract to use the app. If you're using Scavenger on behalf of a household, you're responsible for the conduct of anyone you invite to that household. You must be at least 16 years old to use Scavenger. We do not currently verify age at sign-up.
License grant
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Northbaseworks grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use Scavenger on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use. This license does not give you any ownership interest in the app, and you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from Scavenger except to the extent applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction.
Accounts & households
Scavenger for Android requires signing in with a Google account, through Google Sign-In. There is no guest, anonymous, or offline sign-in option — see the Privacy Policy for what identity information that creates. You're responsible for maintaining the security of the Google account and device you use to access Scavenger, and for all activity that happens through your household.
Creating or joining a household ("Party") shares your household's shopping lists, stores, and hunt history with every other member of that household. Anyone you invite — via an invite code or share link — gets full access to add, edit, and delete that content; Scavenger does not currently support view-only or restricted household roles. Choose who you invite accordingly, and don't share invite codes or links with anyone you don't want to have that access. Invite links and codes expire, can each be used only once, and are subject to rate limits intended to prevent guessing or bulk redemption attempts.
Household & shared list data
Scavenger is built around shared households ("Parties"). When you create or join a household, your shopping lists, stores, and hunt history become visible to every other member of that household, and you can see theirs — this is how the app is designed to work, not an incidental side effect.
- Any member of a household can add, edit, and delete shared content, including content originally added by someone else.
- The member who created a household is its owner. Only the owner can delete the household — which permanently removes it, and all of its lists, stores, and hunt history, for every member — and only the owner can remove another member from it.
- Any other member can leave a household at any time. The owner cannot leave a household without deleting it, because Scavenger does not currently support transferring ownership to another member. A household can never be reduced to zero members; delete it instead.
- Leaving or being removed from a household does not retroactively hide data that was visible to you, or to others, while you were a member, and does not delete the household's shared content — that content belongs to the household and remains available to its remaining members.
- You're responsible for who you invite to your household via invite codes or share links. Treat an invite the same way you'd treat handing someone a key — anyone who joins gets full access to shared content.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Scout (Scavenger's AI photo/voice feature) to submit illegal content, or content you don't have the right to submit;
- Attempt to circumvent, disable, or abuse Scavenger's usage limits, anti-abuse checks, or cost-control gating (for example, by manipulating device signals, creating excessive households, or automating requests to bypass rate limits);
- Use the app to harass, abuse, or harm another person, including other members of your household;
- Interfere with or disrupt the app or the infrastructure it depends on;
- Use the app in a way that violates any applicable law.
We may suspend or terminate access for accounts or households that violate these terms.
Subscriptions & billing
Scavenger offers optional paid subscription tiers (currently Lite and Pro) that expand what you can do with Scout, Scavenger's AI photo and voice feature. Scavenger's core shopping-list and household-sharing features remain usable without a subscription.
- How you're billed. On Android, subscriptions are sold, billed, and managed through Google Play Billing. Northbaseworks never receives or stores your payment details — your purchase is a transaction with Google, subject to Google Play's own terms of service and payment policies in addition to these Terms.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions are offered on monthly and annual terms and renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price, until you cancel. Google charges the payment method on your Google account.
- Free trials. Some plans may include a free trial period. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription converts to a paid, auto-renewing subscription and you'll be charged.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time through the Google Play Store's subscription settings, or from within Scavenger's own subscription screen, which sends you there. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access through the end of the period you already paid for.
- Refunds. Refunds for Google Play purchases are handled by Google under Google Play's refund policies. Northbaseworks cannot issue refunds for a Google Play transaction directly.
- Household coverage. A subscription is applied to the household it was purchased for, so every member of that household gets the expanded Scout limits — one subscription covers the household, not each member individually.
- Prices and plans. Current prices, billing periods, and any trial length are always shown by Google Play at the point of purchase, and that display governs. We may change prices or plan structure going forward, with any change applying to renewals after we give notice as required by Google Play and applicable law.
All subscription purchases, renewals, and cancellations are processed through the Google Play Store and are subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. You agree that any billing-related disputes, refund requests, or payment issues must be directed to Google. The Company does not collect or store your financial or credit card information.
Third-party & external services
Scavenger for Android relies on third-party infrastructure and services to function, including Google (sign-in and data storage, and Google Play Billing), Anthropic (AI processing for Scout), public Overpass servers that provide OpenStreetMap data, run by independent third parties (nearby-store search), and our hosting provider, Cloudflare. Scavenger's availability depends on these services remaining available; we're not responsible for outages or issues originating from third-party providers. Scout's AI-generated results (item recognition, categorization) are provided on a best-effort basis and may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete — you're responsible for reviewing what Scout adds to your lists.
App marketplace terms
The operator of the app marketplace or store through which you obtained Scavenger (for Android, Google LLC or its subsidiaries) is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you, but has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support for the app.
Disclaimer of warranties
Scavenger is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fully secure, that any defect will be corrected, or that Scout's AI-generated results will be accurate or complete. Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this disclaimer may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE COMPANY BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. THE COMPANY'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE APP SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF: (A) THE TOTAL AMOUNT PAID BY YOU TO THE COMPANY (INCLUDING THROUGH GOOGLE PLAY) IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) TWENTY-FIVE UNITED STATES DOLLARS ($25.00 USD). SOME JURISDICTIONS (INCLUDING CERTAIN CANADIAN PROVINCES) DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CERTAIN DAMAGES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
Termination
You may stop using Scavenger at any time — by leaving a household you're a member of, by deleting a household you own (see the Privacy Policy for what that deletes), or by uninstalling the app. Uninstalling the app does not by itself cancel a subscription; cancel through Google Play as described above. We may suspend or terminate your access to Scavenger if you violate these Terms, or if we discontinue the app or a feature of it. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers and limitation of liability) will survive.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
Dispute resolution; mandatory arbitration; class action waiver
Residents of the United States: You and the Company agree that any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the App shall be settled exclusively by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) in accordance with its Consumer Arbitration Rules.
The venue for any such arbitration shall be Marion County, Florida. However, to ensure accessibility, any arbitration hearing may be conducted virtually, via video conference or telephone, by mutual agreement or at the arbitrator's discretion.
YOU AND THE COMPANY AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS, GROUP, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.
Residents of Canada: The arbitration agreement and class action waiver in this section apply to you unless strictly prohibited by the consumer protection laws of your province or territory of residence (such as Quebec or Ontario). To the extent such local laws apply and prevent mandatory arbitration, any disputes shall be resolved exclusively by the competent courts located in your province of residence, under the laws of that province.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, the "last updated" date above will change and we'll make reasonable efforts to notify users through the app. Continuing to use Scavenger after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
